Facilities Information Systems

Mission Statement
|
|
The FIS organization provides leadership and assistance in the use of
technology in order to support the Office of Facilities' business goals.
|
Overview of the Use of Technology within Facilities
|
|
Virtually all business functions within the Office of Facilities rely heavily
on the use of technology to deliver their services. Facilities employees rely on
computer programs, which are specific to their lines of business; most of these
programs have been custom designed for their use. They also require a fully
functioning infrastructure which must be operational 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Facilities staff also relies on core building data developed and/or maintained by
FIS staff. FIS and ITS staff develop and provide daily support of these technologies
and core data.

Organization
|
|
The Facilities Information Systems (FIS) organization provides technical support
for the entire Office of Facilities. It is a sub-department of the Finance and
Administration department, which provides a variety of support services for the Office
of Facilities. In addition to the technical support provided by FIS, the Office of
Facilities is also supported by an ITS Project Leader and a group of ITS
programmer/analysts allocated to the Office of Facilities. FIS and ITS staff are
located in the Facilities department allowing them to efficiently provide support to
their users.
