Q. What is FAMIS and how can I use it?

A. FAMIS is a software program, which was implemented by the Office of Facilities.  Physical Plant, Systems Engineering, Fire Marshal, Grounds Maintenance, Custodial Services, Lockshop and the Customer Service Group are some of the departments who currently use FAMIS to schedule building maintenance, repairs and non-capital projects. The goal is to have all operating departments in the Office of Facilities using this system to schedule their maintenance, repairs, and non-capital projects.

In conjunction FAMIS software supporting the Facilities work requests process, the Office of Facilities offers web-related tools and training to their Customers. The FWR (FAMIS Web Request) web site was developed and offered to provide our Customers with:

  •   The ability to enter routine, non-emergency work requests on-line
  •   Access to submit customer-funded project work, eliminating the need to fill out paperwork
  •   Real time monitoring ability for viewing the status of work requested in Yale facilities
  •   Access to detailed FAMIS billing information for those employees who currently have authority to view detailed web financial reports

Q. Is there training and on-going support?

A.YES! For Summer 2008,  2-hour FWR Clinics will be offered at no charge at Central Campus at the 221 Whitney Ave.2nd floor Facilities Training Room . (Training at 153 College Street facility, Training Room 4 has temporarily been suspended until current renovations have been compled)  Clinics instruct our Customers how to access the FWR Web Site and utilize the search and reporting functions. The FWR clinic will include a demonstration as well as hands-on use of these new tools.

Q. How do I sign up to attend a FWR clinic?
A.
Please be advised that the sign-up procedure for clinics on either side of campus is for folks to contact Erika Reilly, the FAMIS Instructor, via email at: erika.reilly@yale.edu.   To facilitate the registration process, please be sure to include your name, title, department, phone number and session that you would like to attend in your email.  Participant scheduling will be accommodated on a first-come-first served basis. You will receive an email from Erika Reilly that will either confirm your registration or indicate that there is a need to reschedule to another session.

Q. What are "Special Sessions" and how can I request one?

A. In addition to scheduled FWR Clinics, special sessions (non-calendared classes) can be arranged for small or larger groups. For example, we are holding just such a session in early October for a dozen Dining Services staff on a day and time that we were able to work out together. We will work individually with the managers of any group wanting to organize this kind of session. As with individual requests, please send Erika your group requests via email and she will contact you to discuss date, time and location options.

PARKING AND SHUTTLE SERVICES
There is limited free parking in the lot immediately behind the 221 Whitney building…call the Learning Center directly at 432-5660 for more parking information.  Should you opt not to drive, you can check with the Yale Transit shuttle web site http://www.yale.edu/parkingandtransit/shuttle/index.html for shuttle schedules and locations on both sides of Campus.
