Dear Yale Colleagues,
This is to announce that Mr.Stephen Brown has been promoted to Director of Technology Systems and Development
in Facilities Construction & Renovation effective June 21, 2007.
Steve has worked in Construction & Renovation for the last seventeen years. Steve was promoted to Project Management Director
in 2005 and has led Project Management during a period when the project workload has increased steadily to a high of an additional $100
Million per year in FY07(versus previous years). Steve's deep knowledge of the Construction & Renovation work processes has enabled a
smooth transition to a much larger annual workload over the past three years. In addition to leading Project Management, Steve developed
a monthly reporting system for all projects and developed and deployed quarterly results metrics systems for cost savings and safety
results for Construction & Renovation. Steve also developed and deployed a technology web site for Construction & Renovation that includes
cost benchmarking of Yale's largest projects vs. our peer institutions and commercial entities, our cost estimate risk analyses for projects
over the past three years, and many other technical tools and data that we use to assure our projects are completed with excellence.
In his new position as Director of Technology Systems and Development, Steve will continue his efforts on managing and improving the
technical databases, quarterly results metrics tracking, and other technical tools. Steve will also lead the development and deployment of
our technical mastery training program for Planning, Project Management, and Construction Management to assure the effective delivery of our
increasing workload. Steve has also been assigned the leadership of the Construction Administration organization which is responsible for
the deployment of all Yale design and construction management contracts.
Steve will transfer his Project Management Director responsibilities to Sam Carbone, the newly named Project Management Director over
the next few months given the breadth of responsibilities. They will work together to assure the transition is professionally completed.
If you have a question about the transition please contact either Sam or Steve.
Please also join me in thanking Steve for his dedicated service as Project Management Director over the last years and also in
supporting Steve to achieve much continued success in his new role.
